Loving the Combination

I have started on my "Remains of the Day" class.
It's amazing.
I am obsessed.
I have finished the cover and started the pages. Took some time to get pictures of the cover before I fill it (and before we supposedly get snow and I lose the good lighting).
Here it is:

I am currently working on the pages. I love that everything is a mix of scraps and incorporates paper and fabric. Later it will have doodling and pictures. What more could a person want?!

Happy New Year,

I Did It...

I finally worked up the nerve to get prints of my artwork made.
I'm not sure which part is more scary:
Spending the money to have the prints made or thinking about having all those prints and none of them selling.
I guess it could mean that I have Christmas finished for next year *wink*
In a previous post, there is a sneak at my favorite print. Here is another (my second favorite):
You can find them here: Intrinsic Art Shop

I had two sizes printed. An 8 x 10 and an 11 x 14. Ready to be framed. I'm also framing a couple to hang in the house. The originals will go in my "studio" someday, when it's all finished :)

Also...I signed up for my very first online class (that is not through a University). It is called "Remains of the Day...a shabby journal of scraps". I am excited to get started. I bought a few fat quarters yesterday to make the cover. As soon as I finish with this silly computer, I am off to drink more coffee and create. The teacher is Mary Ann Moss. She teaches second grade in L.A. and if that's not brave enough for you, she also teaches all of us crazy creative people via the internet. You can find her blogs and classes at Dispatch From LA, her blog.

Happy Wednesday!

Papillon de Fleur

This is my latest creation. I started with a completely different idea that evolved into this. I can't say that I am disappointed. I LOVE the way it turned out.

You can find it here: Papillon de Fleur

There are piles of art supplies around my room. I am having a hard time focusing on just one medium. Thinking of how I can blend a few of them together to get the most creative bang for my buck :)

I have also submitted a few pieces from my summer drawing class to the printer. Waiting for a quote to see how much it would be to make prints. I would love to be able to list them on Etsy. It needs to be cost effective though.
This is a one of the four. My favorite:

We are officially on day 1 of our Christmas break. I'm hoping that the two weeks feels like forever. That way we will be ready to go back. If my kids keep it up, it will feel like an eternity. They are already at each others throats. *grrr*

Happy 1st Day of Winter!

Paying Forward

I just took a little time tonight to fill out a fun "wish list" on an art community I stumbled on a few days ago.

If you would like to visit the site, find like minded art-people, or just become inspired you can find it here:

And, you can find the wish list here.
I haven't done much creating in the last few days. I am saving up all that creative energy for Friday. Two weeks of vacation...I will have a TON of time to be creative. I told my husband that all I want to do for the break is have a chance to be bored. :) that means I won't be rushing around doing chores, required activities, watching the clock, etc. We can just "be".
Happy Winter!!

Maybe Some Mojo...

I'm trying. And trying.
I seem to have misplaced my "mojo".
Every time I think I have found it...I loose it again.

I love looking at ideas. I find inspiration in a million places.
When it comes time to apply that inspiration. I draw a blank.
Not sure if it is a fear of failure. Not being creative enough. Or talented enough.

Scrapbooking was my passion for long time. I eat, slept, breathed scrapbooking. Now. Nothing.

I know that money is a driving factor for me. I'm not sure if it is selling the items for money so much as knowing that someone else values my creations. The money is nice. The validation is better.

A driving factor. Validation. That's what I need to find!

Hmm. Where to look.

Being Creative...

I have been finding images and inspiration in a number of places lately.
One of my new favorites is "1000 Artist Journal Pages". It is a fantastic collection of artist journals. I have spent hours looking at it, and still have not seen everything!

Today, I have bounced around between mediums. I'm still avoiding the paint. Not sure why, but I think about it and then purposely find something else to work on. Maybe I will give it a try once I am finished with my classes this semester. There is always Christmas break, right?

The two things I did get to:
Clay trinkets with under glaze. Fired and ready for clear over glaze. Love a few of the designs that "just happened" today.
Paper butterflies. I'm obsessed with them and listed a few more in my etsy shop.
(both are being sold without frames, so you can customize them to your own decor)

Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday and that your weekend was restful :)

Creative Inspiration

I was toodling around on the internet this evening.
Finding things that make me happy.
Sites that inspire creativity.
Things to save and show my art students so that I can help them light their creative fires.
Just thought I would share some of the things I enjoyed this evening :)

Sweet Dreams :)

Try, Try Again...

It's been a very long time since I scrapbooked for eBay. It's been a long time since I scrapbooked at all. I don't know where the urge came from this weekend, but I just wanted to play with paper.

Here is what I created (and I have more ideas floating...just figuring out how to get them out still).

You can find it on my eBay here: Dec. 25th

Here's hoping that someone else wants it as much as I do :) I want to have time and motivation to be creative again, and unfortunately, that drive gets boosted when I know someone else enjoys my work! It's a vicious cycle I tell you...

I have been a single parent for 3 days now, and it is time for my husband to come home so I can get a decent nights sleep. I think the kids are ready for a real meal too. No more leftovers or "quick" food. Other wise, life has been quiet and routine. I think we are settling in for winter :)

Have a great Wednesday! The week is almost over!!

A Perfect Sunday...

I was worried that I wouldn't get a chance to rejuvenate this weekend. Today, however, has been perfect.
There has been time to:
  • sit and browse for creative inspiration
  • too much coffee (is there such a thing?)
  • snacking instead of meal preparation
  • creative endeavors
  • and I am now heading off to read and soak in a hot bath!
I made two things today. One that brings a smile to my face and a contentment to my heart. Another that makes me pause and reflect. A little darker, but still beautiful in it's own way.

Grains of Golden Sand
(provoked by Fauna, titled after Edgar Allen Poes' poem)

You can find them both on in my Etsy shop. I have also included a portion of the poem if you have never read it :)

Off to read.
Happy Sunday!

Butterflies and Smoke

This was my latest burst of creativity: Butterflies and Smoke. I am really excited to make a few more, but with different color combinations.

I have been waffling between paper arts and ceramics, and the paper is really making me happy. The problem is when I have so many ideas in my head, and no time to put them on paper *grr*

Over the years, I have come to the conclusion that sharing my creations with others makes me happy. One way to do that is to give it away (my family members are usually on the receiving end frequently). Another way is to sell. So, I have listed some items on eBay again. Crossing my fingers that I am found...and that someone will enjoy the items I create :)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I plan to spend tomorrow being creative. It's been a while!

Harmless Butterfly Collection

I have been wanting to make one of these for a long time now. The planning was there. The supplies were there, I just never seemed to remember it when I had a few minutes to be creative.

Now it's done. The perfect butterfly collection. No butterflies were harmed in the making of this collage :)

If you would like to see more photos of it (or have one for your own space) you can find it here:
Harmless Butterfly Collection

We had four days off this weekend. I'm not sure where they all went. I would like them back!! Next break...Thanksgiving. I'm not counting or anything :)

Have a great week,

Strawberries, Cantelope, and Blueberries

I was struck by just how appealing red, orange, and purple were when they combine in a bowl. Everytime I ate a blend of summer fruit this season, I was struck again by the colors.

Just because winter is coming, doesn't mean we can't still enjoy the image :) Here are some beads that are my interpretation of all that yummy goodness...

They would make a fun charm bracelet :)

It looks like the weather may be easing up on us this weekend. We shall see what adventures are in store.

I'm thinking up more ideas...but they may not be clay. Who knows. We will see what catches my attention first :)

Happy Long Weekend,

My First Treasury!

Okay...so it is a nerd thing...but I finally got a chance to create a treasury on etsy.com.
A treasury is just a fun way to showcase work that has been listed on the site. As a seller, you can show one of your pieces and the other 11 are other artist.

You can see my treasury collection here: Art Class

It will be listed until Sunday morning. They expire after 3 days.

Fun and beautiful at the same time!! :)

Happy Thursday,

Holy Snow!

It's only the 7th of October and we are being dumped on like it is December.

This is just crazy.

What's even more crazy is that my little ones voted to ride bikes to school this morning. That was fine on the way there...but on the way home, we were all looking like snowmen!! Too bad it's not Friday, we could hunker down in our jammies and spend a cozy weekend at home :)

I attended the adult ed clay class last night. New ideas are swirling. I spent the evening glazing some trinkets I had already made. Can't really take pics unless I want to put them in a snow bank. Next brief moment of good sunlight, I will try to get them photographed.

Last night I listed the last of a batch I finished awhile ago. This is one of my faves:
Cornflower Blue...it's just so pretty :) I thought it would be fun to put 3 of these on a necklace with some accenting beads.
Happy Creativity!

Sweet Goodies...

I have just loaded the kiln again. More goodies baking. I love the anticipation that comes with putting items in the kiln. It's better than Christmas! :)

I received an email from a customer. It was so sweet. She bought one of my pumpkins and used it in a piece she made. Love it...

You can view her items at a site called "Main Street". She made it look good :)

It has been a good weekend. I went to Missoula on Friday. Spent the evening out with my sister and then did a 5K race on Saturday. Jessie and I walked it, but it was still fun. We finished in 51 minutes. Not bad for walking and not running. Next year, our plan is to jog it!

It's been a lazy Sunday, but I painted a BUNCH of trinkets. Cyra made breakfast cookies. I'm about to stuff some mushrooms to go with our Sticky Drunk Pig on a Stick. It's been a good day ;)

Have a great week,

I am officially caught up with my homework (last class before I have my Art minor finished). Hopefully, I haven't forgotten something. I would like to have the weekend to play.

We are supposed to have a cold snap coming in. Not good news. We still have 3 out of 6 walls to finish putting siding on. Vinyl doesn't do well in the cold, so we will most likely be working on that ALL day tomorrow. There went my clay time! *grrr*

I'm claiming Sunday right now. It will be MINE!! :) And oh the things I have planned.

I had some time after work this week to list a few new items. This one reminds me of a jaw breaker.

I have also listed two new funky cameras (purple and yellow). They are a "must C" :)
Hope you all had a great week, and get to have a restful weekend.

Busy Week...

It has been one busy week, and it's gone by fast.

I finally figured out how to get my kids excited about art. High School kids, you have to really work the psych thing with them!! Now that I am less stressed about that, I am ready to start creating again :)

I have a few images of some items I made last weekend. Need to get them resized and then I can post them to Etsy.com. So excited about that!!

Here is a sneak peek:

I also went to the local bead shop while I was in the big city yesterday. Holy cow!! Who knew there were so many?! I'm trying not to become obsessed, but I feel my resolve weakening :)

Enjoy the rest of you week,
intrinsicArt on Etsy.com

Can You Spend All Day...?

I have spent all day playing with clay in one form or another.

and I LOVED it :)

There is a new batch of goodies up in my Etsy shop and another batch in the kiln. Can't wait for them to cool down so I can go look at them!

These are my all time favorite. I have thought about them all week, and they just make me smile.

I was grinning once and my husband asked me why. I said "colors just make me so happy". He didn't get it. MEN!!

I hope they make you smile :)

Let's Try this Again...

I am rotten at blogging lately...(and that is a relative term, since it has been a few years since I last blogged *grin*)

My goal is to keep sharing my ideas and links to fun things. I have started creating with a new medium and feel renewed. Maybe I can keep that going and express it with a blog as well :)

It's nice to know someone else appreciates the same things I do. That someone might find beauty in the same things I do. This is my corner to share. I hope you enjoy it!!
